Description
Encouraged by Scotsman John McLeod, rancher Alex O'Keefe leaves Texas to build a cattle empire in New Mexico Territory. His wife, Joanna, sells the family's holdings, boards a train to join her husband and meets McLeod's brother, Angus, on the trip. Her dream is shattered when she arrives and finds her husband dead. She asserts herself when the railroad raises its prices and proposes an overland cattle drive across the Colorado River and Mojave Desert to California.
