Notes

Description
On a tranquil campus in upstate New York, Prescott University's most celebrated and controversial professor falls to an apparently accidental death. Archie Goodwin, curious, begins poking around in the ivy. Back home in the brownstone, Nero Wolfe professes no interest in the case. But when Archie lands in the local brig, the great man breaks his cardinal rule. Wolfe forsakes the comforts of home for the wilds of the larger world, appearing at the scene of the crime to rescue his errant associate and beard the local constabulary in its den. Only Archie is glad to see him, but the reluctant suspects gather at his command: Prescott's ambitious president, feuding colleagues, and jealous lovers. Each has a motive—but murder? Nero Wolfe is not convinced the professor was murdered until he is back home, safely wedged in his familiar armchair, and a second death bloodies the campus ivy. Then the question of murder becomes more than academic.
